Greetings Villagers!
If you haven’t met me yet, my name is Beverly Moser and I have taken over for Paula Bowman as Mayor of Chesterville. I keep office hours Tuesdays and Fridays 11-2, but am happy to make myself available to you anytime your schedule allows, feel free to call if you have questions outside office hours!
As winter approaches, I wanted to take a minute to address some things going on around the area. Specifically , we seem to have some troublemakers passing through town. I have gotten reports of suspicious activity in the middle of the night. Including empty cars left running and people wandering where they shouldn’t be, among other things. We all want to feel safe in our homes, if you observe something suspicious: Call the Sheriffs office! 419-946-4444 Don’t wait to report it the next day, the sheriff can’t chase them off if you call later.
While you’re watching out for trouble, please keep an eye on our recycling dumpster located by the new fire station. People have been filling it with non recyclable household waste! Twice in the last month, Morrow County Recycling has been forced to dump our recycling in the landfill because there was too much garbage to separate out. I believe that we all appreciate how handy it is to have recycling so close to the Village, but we will lose it if the recycling company can’t keep up with the trash. If you see someone dumping, or see garbage in the recycling, please take a picture and text it to 419-948-9875 so they can get it removed as quickly as possible!
Next we need to talk about sidewalks and driveways. The State of Ohio revised code 4511.68 states that you may not park on a sidewalk, crosswalk or intersection, among other places. Cars destroy concrete sidewalks, and make them unsafe for pedestrians. Please be aware of how and where you park your vehicles, and take a second to make sure you are not blocking a neighbor's view of the street. While you may not park on your sidewalk, you are responsible for its repair and upkeep.
Finally, with winter coming soon, take a peek at your walks and make sure they are ready for snow shoveling! If you are concerned about snow plows scraping up the corners of your driveway, we have reflective stakes in the office. Feel free to pop in and pick up a couple!
Thank you for taking a minute to read this! Our village office exists to serve you so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have! That’s what we are here for! Our village council meetings are usually the 3rd Thursday of each month and are open to the public. Feel free to attend to see what it takes for us all to keep the village running!
Respectfully,
Mayor Beverly Moser
